Why PurchaseWise Exists

Built for Australian property buyers, by people who work in Australian property.

Buying a home or investment property is one of the biggest financial decisions most Australians will ever make. Yet the numbers that decide whether a purchase is affordable — the deposit, the loan-to-value ratio, the lenders mortgage insurance trigger, the repayment amount and the stamp duty bill — are often only explained clearly after you have already made an offer or sat down with a broker.

PurchaseWise was built to move that understanding earlier. Our calculators use standard, well-established formulas and clearly state their assumptions, so you can test scenarios in your own time: a different purchase price, a larger deposit, an extra repayment, a different state or territory. Our guides explain the concepts in plain English alongside the maths, and our methodology pages show exactly how each result is produced.

We do not lend money, sell loans, take referrals for particular products, or assess borrowing capacity. The calculators are independent educational tools. Their job is to help you arrive at a conversation with your bank, broker, conveyancer or adviser already understanding the numbers — so that conversation is more useful, and your decisions are better informed.

Everything on PurchaseWise is free to use, requires no sign-up, and provides general information only — not personal financial, legal, tax or credit advice.
